Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra hit out on Twitter on Tuesday night to criticize Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman after she described an answer as “UP type” after the presentation of the Union Budget 2022 on February 1. This comes only a few days before the state will begin voting in the Assembly election.

As for Priyanka Gandhi’s tweet, she wrote, “You did not put anything in the budget for Uttar Pradesh, but what was the need to insult the people of UP like this? Understand, the people of UP are proud to be “UP type”. We are proud of the language, dialect, culture and history of UP,” she wrote.

The Uttar Pradesh Congress also tweeted, “We the people of UP are proud to be ‘UP type,'” with the hashtag #UPMeraAbhimaan.

WHAT DID NIRMALA SITHARAMAN SAID?

Nirmala Sitharaman issued the Union Budget 2022 to Parliament on Tuesday. Following the budget announcement, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised it on Twitter, calling it a “zero sum budget.”

The finance minister was asked regarding Rahul Gandhi’s remark during a press conference following the budget presentation. She sought a response from Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, who stated, “You stated that Rahul Gandhi did not understand the budget, which is correct. Nirmala Sitharaman reacted shortly; all I can say is that the Budget will serve everyone, and this will be obvious in due course.”

Nirmala Sitharaman is reported to have replied, “I think he has given a typical UP type answer which is sufficient for an MP who fled the state.”
