The much-anticipated release of Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film “Emergency,” where she portrays former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has once again been deferred. In an announcement made by Manikarnika Films on Wednesday, the production house cited Kangana’s dedication to her political commitments as the reason behind the postponement.Currently, Kangana Ranaut is contesting as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. Amid her rigorous Lok Sabha election campaigns, the actor-turned-politician has opted to prioritize her duty to the nation over the film’s release.
In an official statement shared on social media, Manikarnika Films expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received for Kangana and assured fans of updating them soon with a new release date for “Emergency.”
Initially slated for release on June 14, the film’s premiere date has been subject to several shifts. Kangana herself had previously announced the release date following her attendance at the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya earlier this year. Directed and written by Kangana, “Emergency” boasts a stellar cast including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik.
The film delves into the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with Kangana essaying the titular role. Despite the delay in its release, anticipation remains high for Kangana’s portrayal of the iconic political figure.
While “Emergency” awaits its new release date, Kangana Ranaut remains engrossed in her election campaigning activities. Having filed her nomination for the Lok Sabha elections recently, Kangana expressed her pride in contesting from the Mandi constituency and her determination to succeed in the realm of politics, echoing her triumphs in Bollywood.
