Yami Gautam has recently reacted angrily to a review of her latest movie Dasvi.
The film, which also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Nimrat Kaur, was released on Netflix and Jio Cinema o n Thursday, (April 7).
Yami as a cop in Dasvi. It is a social comedy which exemplifies the importance of education.
Taking to her Twitter handle on Thursday (7 April), Yami stated that she observed one of reviews of her performance in the film “extremely disrespectful.”
She stated that she is a self-made actress who has worked hard to get where she is now, and she requested the media outlet to not review her again.
“Yami Gautam is no longer the dead girlfriend in Hindi films, but the combative smile is starting to get repetitive.”
Reacting to the comment in twitter thread, Yami wrote: “Before I say anything else, I’d like to say that I usually take constructive criticism in my stride. But when a certain platform keeps trying to pull you down consistently, I felt it necessary to speak up about it.”
In the consecutive thread she wrote: “It takes years of hard work for anyone & especially a self-made actor like me to keep proving our mettle again & again with every opportunity. This is what it comes down to from certain reputed portals!”
“It’s heartbreaking since I did look up to @FilmCompanion once upon a time, like many of us, but I don’t seek that since long now! I would request you not to ‘review’ my performance henceforth ! I’ll find grace in that & it’ll be less painful,” she added.
A day later, on 8th April Vivek Agnihotri, retweeted Yami Gautam’s tweet, referred ‘vicious mafia’ Anupama Chopra as well as praised Yami for speaking out.
Dasvi stars ace actor like Abhishek Bachchan who plays the role of politician Ganga Ram Chaudhary, and lands up in jail. Yami plays Jyoti Deswal, a strict and law-abiding cop who has recently been assigned as the new superintendent, and she jabs Abhishek’s character to pass his Class 10 exams.
In the film, Nimrat Kaur plays Bimla Devi, Ganga Ram Chaudhary’s wife, who becomes the unintentional chief minister after her husband is imprisoned.
