Indian wrester Ravi Kumar Dahiya has created history by entering the Olympics final at Tokyo Olympics 2021 on Wednesday (August 4). Dahiya is the second Indian wrester ever to enter the Olympics final after Sushil Kumar back in 2012 London Olympics.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya has already secured a silver for India in the 57kg category by defeating Kazakhstan’s Nurislam Sanayev in the semifinal. Dahiya will be now competing for gold medal against Zaur Uguev of Russia in the final on Thursday (August 5) and can potentially become India’s second-ever individual gold medalist at Tokyo Olympics after Abhinav Bindra who won a gold in shooting in 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Ravi Kumar Dahiya will be the fifth wrestler from India to win an Olympic medal after KD Jadhav (bronze in 1952), Sushil Kumar (bronze in 2008 and silver in 2012) and Yogeshwar Dutt (bronze in 2008) and Sakshi Malik (bronze in 2016).
Ravi is also a two-time Asian Championships gold medalist and a bronze medal winner at the World Championships in 2019.
