The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup is set to kick off on July 19, 2024, in Sri Lanka. This eight-team tournament will be played in a T20I format for the fifth consecutive time, serving as a crucial preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled for October-November in Bangladesh.
Tournament Format
The tournament will feature eight teams divided into two groups of four. Each team will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. The final match is slated for July 28 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.
India enters the tournament as the defending champions, having claimed victory in the last edition against Sri Lanka in 2022. Historically, India has been dominant in the Asia Cup, winning all but one edition, with their only loss occurring against Bangladesh in the 2018 final.
