Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has revealed a captivating behind-the-scenes tale involving Amitabh Bachchan and an unexpected gift. During the making of “Eklavya,” Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan had a significant disagreement, which almost led to a premature exit by the legendary actor. Vidhu Vinod Chopra shared his concerns about Amitabh potentially quitting the film, only to be pleasantly surprised when the actor returned to the set the next day with undiminished enthusiasm.

Jaya Bachchan, however, had her reservations about their collaboration, as she was convinced that clashes between Amitabh and the director were inevitable. Her skepticism was seemingly validated, as the anticipated dispute between the two did occur within a mere ten days. In recognition of Amitabh Bachchan’s commitment to completing the entire film despite the conflicts, Vidhu Vinod Chopra went on to gift him an extravagant Rolls Royce valued at a staggering Rs 4.5 crore.

Interestingly, it was later reported that Amitabh Bachchan sold his Rolls Royce Phantom in 2019 for an undisclosed amount. The cinematic venture, “Eklavya,” may not have set the box office ablaze, but it garnered recognition as India’s official entry to the Oscars. The movie featured an ensemble cast including Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore, Sanjay Dutt, and Boman Irani, among others.

In a previous interview, Vidhu Vinod Chopra disclosed that he had initially worried about Amitabh Bachchan’s reaction to their clash, fearing he might abandon the project. Fortunately, the iconic actor’s dedication prevailed, and he completed the film with unwavering commitment. However, when Amitabh’s mother learned of the luxurious gift, she admonished him, pointing out the incongruity of gifting lavish cars while driving a modest Maruti van himself.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s latest directorial endeavor, “12th Fail,” has been making waves in the industry. The film boasts an ensemble cast that includes Vikrant Massey, Medha Shankar, Anant V Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee, earning praise and acclaim from viewers and critics alike.
