In a disturbing incident, a couple in Mumbai has been arrested by the Crime Branch for allegedly selling their two-year-old son for sixty thousand rupees and their one-month-old daughter for fourteen thousand rupees. The shocking revelation came to light when the family of the accused learned about the incident, prompting immediate police action.

The arrested individuals include the parents, Shabbir and Sania Khan, as well as Shakeel Makrani. Additionally, Usha Rathod, an alleged intermediary who reportedly received a commission from the sale, was also detained by the authorities.

According to Daya Nayak of the Mumbai Crime Branch, the couple’s addiction to drugs led them to take the drastic step of selling their own children. The couple’s dependence on drugs was so severe that they resorted to selling their two-year-old son and one-month-old daughter to raise funds for their addiction.

“The couple sold the boy for sixty thousand rupees, and the one-month-old girl was sold for fourteen thousand rupees,” stated Daya Nayak.

Shabbir and Sania Khan, both grappling with drug addiction, apparently could not sustain their habit without external financial support. Usha Rathod, identified as an intermediary, played a role in connecting with the couple and facilitating the sale of their children.

The identity of the buyers is yet to be ascertained, and the police are actively searching for the couple’s second two-year-old son. The Crime Branch has registered a case against Shabbir and Sania Khan, Usha Rathore, and Shakeel Makrani.

Rubina Khan, the sister of accused Shabbir, played a pivotal role in bringing the crime to light. Shocked by the revelation, she promptly reported the incident to the D.N. Nagar police station, filing a complaint against her brother and sister-in-law. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the Crime Branch for further investigation.

This distressing incident sheds light on the devastating impact of drug addiction, not only on individuals but also on innocent lives. The authorities are now working to ensure justice for the victims and to unravel the complete details of this appalling crime.
