Even after getting support from many of his co-starts Actor Pearl V Puri was not granted bail. Pearl who is accused of raping a minor at a film set in Vasai in 2019 was arrested by the Waliv Police on June 4. He has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act. The actor was shifted to Thane Jail and is kept under judicial custody. His plea for bail at Vasai court has been postponed and the next hearing is now scheduled for June 15.
According to lawyer of the minor’s father her medical examination, which was conducted at Nair Hospital in presence of her mother proved she was molested. Minor also reportedly picked Puri’s picture out of the many pictures shown to her during the investigation. The girl allegedly complained about the incident to her father, after which he went to the police. However Aarti Puri who is a family member of the minor’s mother Ekta Sharma claimed that Pearl was being framed by the girl’s father to win an ongoing custody battle.
After Pearl V Puri’s arrest, many celebrities including his co-stars such as Divya Khosla Kumar, Ekta Kapoor, Surbhi Jyoti, Nia Sharma Anita Hassanandani and Krystle D’Souza among others have come in support of the actor. However they are being criticized on social media for supporting Pearl as end celebrity privilege trends on social media.
According to Vasai DCP Sanjay Kumar Patil there is evidence against Peral that is why the police have arrested him. He reassured that the truth will be decided in the trial.
Until the truth comes out people should refrain from becoming judge of an event they know nothing about.
