Ramesh Taurani, the producer of the highly anticipated film “Merry Christmas,” sheds light on the decision to postpone its release. The thriller, directed by Sriram Raghavan and starring Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, was initially set for a December 15 release but was rescheduled to December 8. However, facing tough competition from major releases like “Animal,” “Sam Bahadur,” “Dunki,” and “Salaar,” Taurani opted for a further delay to January 12, 2024.

Taurani explained that the decision was influenced by the significant releases in December, including “Animal” featuring Ranbir Kapoor and “Sam Bahadur” with Vicky Kaushal, posing a potential screen-sharing challenge for “Merry Christmas.” He emphasized the need to avoid ego-driven decisions and recognized the complexity of securing screens for a thriller against such blockbuster releases.

The producer also touched upon another project, “Ishq Vishk 2,” from Tips Films, starring Rohit Saraf, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grewal. Taurani revealed that a song is pending for shooting, and once completed, the film is slated for release in 2024. The decision to delay “Merry Christmas” underscores the careful considerations made in the competitive landscape of Bollywood releases.
