In a recent revelation, director Sandeep Vanga Reddy unveiled an intriguing twist in the casting of his 2019 blockbuster, Kabir Singh. Contrary to popular knowledge, it appears that Ranveer Singh was initially approached for the lead role before Shahid Kapoor took on the intense character.
According to Vanga, Ranveer Singh was the first choice for Kabir Singh, but he declined the offer, citing the film’s theme as “too dark” for his taste at that particular juncture. The controversial movie, which stirred discussions for its perceived misogyny, eventually found its way to Shahid Kapoor, who delivered a compelling performance alongside Kiara Advani.
The director disclosed in a recent interview, “I was continuously getting calls from Mumbai to do the remake. First, it was pitched to Ranveer Singh. I wanted to do it with him. But finally, he decided he will not do it, because it was too dark for him at that time,” shedding light on Singh’s reservations about the intense and gritty nature of the character.
