Magnum Opus ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ has reportedly been shelved due to budget problem. Helmed by Aditya Dhar ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ is a superhero film starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan in the lead.

The film was supposedly a “high-concept visual spectacle”. A few months ago, producer Ronnie Screwvala decided to delay the film since the budget did not match the ambitious project given the uncertainty amid an ongoing pandemic. Vicky, Sara and Aditya agreed that the film should be delayed to work on it financially and get back to it once things are normal.

However, according to the latest reports the film has been shelved once and for all given that the investment will not provide guaranteed returns. The report says that Aditya’s script was well written however it was crossing the Rs 200 crore mark. Ronnie wanted it to be capped at Rs 125 crore. The script required a huge amount of VFX in order to do justice to the film.

Therefore, there is no guarantee if the film will provide good earnings given the restrictions, migration to OTT and theatres shut. That’s why as of now, ‘The Immortal Ashwatthama’ stands as a closed chapter.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Vicky Kaushal is busy working on ‘Sardar Udham Singh’ biopic, Sam Manekshaw biopic ‘Sam Bahadur’ helmed by Meghna Gulzar, and ‘Mr Lele’ in his kitty. Sara will be next seen in Aanand L Rai’s ‘Atrangi Re’, which also features Dhanush and Akshay Kumar.
