In recent reports, the average retail price of onions in Delhi remained at ₹78 per kilogram, according to government data on a Monday. However, a promising change is on the horizon, as onions are now available for as low as ₹25 per kg in various sectors of Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad, revealed insiders on Tuesday.

The National Cooperative Consumer’s Federation of India (NCCF) has taken a significant step to alleviate the burden on consumers. Vans loaded with onions will be dispatched, offering these essential vegetables at subsidized rates to different sectors in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. This initiative is expected to continue until the last week of November, depending on public demand.

To keep the public informed about the schedule of these vans’ visits, NCCF plans to utilize various social media platforms, including X (formerly known as Twitter). This move ensures that consumers have easy access to information on when and where they can purchase onions at the subsidized rate, as confirmed by officials.

In the backdrop of these developments, it’s worth noting that the all-India average price of onions has also witnessed a drop, hovering at around ₹50.35 per kg, as per the latest data. This positive change in onion prices comes as a welcome relief for consumers in the region.
