A recently surfaced video features a woman with Alia Bhatt’s face engaging in inappropriate gestures.
These deepfake videos have raised significant alarms regarding the potential misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the impact on public figures. Concerns have prompted the government to address the issue, with the Centre emphasizing a strict penalty of ₹1 lakh in fines and up to three years in jail for the creation and circulation of deepfakes.
Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has announced the imminent appointment of an officer to take decisive action against such content. He highlighted that existing laws and rules already have clear provisions to address the challenges posed by deepfakes.”
