Justin Bieber revealed to fans on Friday in an Instagram video that he has Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, which has caused him partial facial paralysis.
The 28-year-old pop singer announced his Justice World Tour would be put on hold due to illness just hours before his first show in Toronto.
Ramsay Hunt Syndrome is a shingles complication that occurs when shingles strikes the facial nerve close to his one ear. It can cause a condition of hearing loss as well as facial paralysis.
The “Peaches” singer said he was doing facial exercises and taking some time to “rest and relax” so he could “do what I was born to do.”
He did not provide a time frame for his recovery. Bieber’s tour has been postponed three times now, the first two owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
