Controversy Surrounds Censor Board’s ‘A’ Certification for Prabhas Starrer Salaar: Makers Initially Disappointed

Anticipation runs high for the upcoming Prabhas starrer, Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel. However, recent developments reveal that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the film an ‘A – Adult Only’ certificate, prompting dissatisfaction among the movie’s makers.

In a recent interview, the film’s producer, Vijay Kiragandur, expressed the initial disapproval of the CBFC’s decision, emphasizing their preference for a ‘U/A’ certification to attract a wider family audience.
This situation draws parallels with a similar incident involving the film ‘Animal.’ Kiragandur revealed that they had discussions with the censor officers, who clarified the new regulations governing film certifications.

Despite the CBFC recommending certain edits to secure a ‘U/A’ rating, director Prashanth Neel stood firm against compromising the integrity of the narrative. Kiragandur explained, “They suggested a few cuts to get ‘U/A,’ but director Prashanth decided against the cuts because those were the scenes which would add to the character building of a violent man. Those scenes are important.”

As Salaar gears up for release, the ‘A’ certification adds a layer of controversy, bringing attention to the evolving landscape of film certification rules and the delicate balance between artistic expression and audience accessibility.
