Kareena Kapoor Khan who is infamous for having all the inside gossip about B’town and those associated to it had admitted to keeping tabs on celebs through a secret social media account on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan. However, despite that, Bebo had always kept a safe distance from all forms of social media handles until now. The actress has finally created an official account for herself on Instagram. “The cat’s out of the bag,” she wrote in her first post, a picture of herself in a black and gold jacket and tights.
But for someone who took so long to make her Insta debut, what changed her mind? The ever so candid Kareena Kapoor Khan says that though she always has a ‘never say never’ spirit, she did have certain reservations about going on social media. However, Kareena said that she eventually realized that at the end of the day we all have to move forward with time.
“I have always believed in, ‘Never say never’. The world of Instagram was daunting for me because I didn’t want to get addicted to ‘likes’ on pictures or sharing details of my life. But I realized I have to move with the times.” Bebo added.
Further elaborating on the need to make her social media debut as a gift for her fans, she said, “I am joining social media for my fans, who have supported me for 20 years. I want to share details of my life with my fans.”
The account under the name of Kareena Kapoor Khan popped up on Instagram on 4 March and earned 499,000 followers in less than a day. Her first post was a brief video of a cat captioned, “Coming soon”. Celebs like Manish Malhotra, Mohit Rai, Nilofer Qureshi and Tanya Ghavri, who are very close to Kareena, were among the first to follow the star.
Kareena had vaguely hinted at the idea of starting a social media account in an interview in January. She said, “I know my fan clubs also have some 6-7 million followers. There are lots of fans who are running them. I can say that there’ll be an official page which I will do at some point. But it will be run by somebody. It will only officially be about my work and will have updates about my films, but no personal stuff. It’ll have one or two personal pictures from our family holiday, but nothing more than that. Saif (Ali Khan) and I always give out one picture from our family holiday anyway.”
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Kareena is on a promotional spree for her film Angrezi Medium alongside Irrfan and Radhika Madan. She also has Karan Johar’s magnum opus Takht in the making. Based in the backdrop of Moghul India, Takht boasts of an impressive ensemble with actors like Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor in pivotal roles.
