In a tragic turn of events in Ghaziabad, a 30-year-old man has been taken into custody by the police for allegedly confessing to the murder of his mother-in-law. The incident, which occurred at her residence in Chiranjeev Vihar on Thursday, is believed to be fueled by the man’s anger over his wife leaving him for another man and taking all her jewelry with her.
The victim, identified as Kusum Singh, approximately 50 years old, was alone at home during the time of the murder. Aman Singh, her son, filed a police complaint, leading to the registration of an FIR under sections of the Indian Penal Code related to murder and criminal intimidation.
According to Aman’s account in the FIR, he and his brother had gone to their offices on Thursday morning, leaving their mother alone at home. Upon receiving a distressing call around 11.55 am, Aman rushed home to find his mother dead. He suspects the involvement of his brother-in-law, Pramohan Singh, and sister in orchestrating the murder with accomplices.
The police, upon reaching the crime scene, discovered that Kusum had been smothered to death. The autopsy report confirmed this cause of death. ACP Abhishek Srivastava stated that Pramohan Singh was brought in for questioning, and he admitted to the murder. CCTV footage also showed him entering the house along with another person, whose involvement is currently under investigation.
The motive behind the gruesome act is attributed to Singh’s wife leaving him two months ago for another man, taking all her jewelry. Singh claimed that Kusum was supporting her daughter, and he, in fact, had purchased the jewelry. The fatal altercation reportedly occurred when Singh visited Kusum to inquire about the jewelry, culminating in the murder.
With the suspect’s confession and CCTV footage as crucial evidence, Pramohan Singh is set to face formal charges in connection with the tragic incident.
