On Friday (22 April), UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed his delight at how well he was received in India.
As PM Modi’s state was decked out with posters greeting the UK Prime Minister to India, he said he started to feel like cricketer Sachin Tendulkar & superstar Amitabh Bachchan.
“Thank you… my friend Prime minisister Narendra Modi.. my khaas dost I think is the expression I want to use in Hindi,” Boris Johnson said, referring to PM Modi as a khaas dost (special friend).
In India, we had an amazing two days. I was the first conservative Prime Minister to travel Gujarat, which is, of course, where you were born.
It also serves as the ancestral home to nearly half of all British Indians. I received a fantastic welcome. I started feeling like Sachin Tendulkar. My face was just as ubiquitous as mega star Amitabh Bachchan.

He spent his first day in Gujarat visiting the Sabarmati Ashram, the Swaminarayan sect’s Akshardham temple in Gandhinagar, and the JCB manufacturing plant.
Boris Johnson met with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi on Friday for bilateral talks. Speaking specifically about the UK-India relationship, the UK PM says : Things aven’t been this strong and good between India and the United Kingdom.
“I wouldn’t have secured the very same reception anywhere in the world. It was incredible to be seeing your (PM Modi’s) home town for the first time,” Boris Johnson added.
