Union Home Minister Amit Shah has responded to allegations from the opposition regarding EVM tampering and the supposed advantage the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gains from it. In an interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Shah dismissed the opposition’s claims, questioning their selective criticism of the election process when results don’t favor them.
Shah emphasized that accusations of EVM tampering are baseless, highlighting instances where the BJP has faced defeat despite using EVMs in various states like Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, and West Bengal. He challenged Rahul Gandhi’s assertions, urging him to clarify whether the Congress would accept election outcomes even if they won through EVMs.
Regarding the BJP’s stance on “One Nation, One Election,” Shah reiterated that the party has included this initiative in its manifesto and is committed to its implementation. This policy aims to synchronize all elections across the country to streamline governance and reduce the frequency of polls. Shah affirmed the BJP’s determination to pursue this agenda and ensure its realization.
