Security Breach Strikes Lok Sabha on 22nd Anniversary of Parliament Attack

237

In a startling incident on Wednesday afternoon, the Lok Sabha witnessed a significant security breach coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the infamous Parliament terror attack. This historical attack, which occurred in 2001, resulted in the tragic loss of nine lives, including eight security personnel, sending shockwaves through India as its symbol of democracy was targeted.

The breach unfolded on the same day highlighted by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who, in a recent video message, issued a threat of an impending attack on Parliament. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had earlier paid tribute to the victims, acknowledging their courage and sacrifice in the face of danger.

The 2001 Parliament terror attack was orchestrated by two banned Pakistan-based terror groups, namely Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, leading to the elimination of five terrorists. Hours before the recent security breach, solemn tributes were paid to the victims by the Prime Minister and the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Reflecting on the gravity of the situation, Prime Minister Modi stated, “Their courage and sacrifice in the face of danger will forever be etched in our memory.” President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the significance of that day 22 years ago, recognizing the thwarting of terrorists’ nefarious plans to eliminate political leadership and damage the Temple of Democracy.

As investigations into the security breach are underway, the nation remains vigilant in the wake of this unsettling anniversary.
