In a tense situation unfolding in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), close to 100 schools found themselves at the center of a bomb threat scare early Wednesday morning. Authorities reported that the threats, received via official school email accounts around 4 am, prompted immediate action, with at least five schools in the southwest, three in the east, and 10 in South Delhi affected.

Addressing the media, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena assured the public that the Delhi Police had identified the origin of the threatening emails and launched an investigation. “I want to assure the people of Delhi that Delhi Police is fully prepared and we will try to prevent any untoward incident from happening,” Saxena emphasized.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the emails may have originated from Russia, according to officials cited by The Indian Express. Additionally, central agencies have joined the probe, noting similar threats directed at airports in recent days and hospitals just this past Monday.

Despite the alarming nature of the situation, both the Home Ministry and the Delhi Police have urged citizens to remain calm, assuring them that the threats likely constitute hoaxes. Nevertheless, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported receiving 60 bomb threat calls thus far.

Upon receiving reports of the threats, local law enforcement swiftly evacuated the affected school premises, initiating comprehensive search operations with the aid of bomb detection teams, disposal squads, and DFS officials.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities remain vigilant, emphasizing the importance of swift and thorough response measures to ensure the safety and security of all residents in the region.
