In a daring incident, a gang successfully infiltrated a wedding ceremony at a hall in Andheri, Mumbai, managing to escape with Rs 59,000 in cash and two mobile phones belonging to the groom’s mother. The entire episode was captured by CCTV cameras installed at the Sant Gadge Maharaj Sabhagruh Hall, situated at Jarimari Mandir on SV Road in Bandra West.

The victim, Kundana Chandrakant Shelar, a 50-year-old resident of Ambernath East and the mother of the groom, reported the crime. The CCTV footage revealed the modus operandi of the criminals, showing three individuals entering the venue, with one of them being a minor. While the minor innocently engaged in play with others, the two accompanying adults discreetly trailed the groom’s family.

The crucial moment for the criminals unfolded during the reception, which commenced around 12.30 pm. As both families were occupied collecting gift envelopes, the gang seized the opportunity. Their focus, particularly on the groom’s mother, allowed them to execute their plan seamlessly.

The incident sheds light on the increasing audacity of criminals targeting public events, prompting concerns about the security measures at such gatherings. The Mumbai police are actively investigating the case, utilizing the CCTV footage as a key piece of evidence to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for the brazen theft during the joyous occasion.
