Akshay Kumar starrer upcoming film Prithviraj has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism since it was announced. The film which will also mark Miss World Manushi Chillar’s Bollywood is backed by YRF.

Akshay had announced this project in 2019 with the tweet that read, “Elated to share about my 1st historical film on my birthday. Humbled to have the opportunity to play a hero I look up to for his valour and values – Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan in one of my biggest films ‘Prithviraj'”.

Earlier, Karni Sena had demanded to change the title of the film and now, Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha is protesting for the same. Recently, Akshay’s effigy was burned at a protest held by the Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha in Chandigarh.

According to Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha the name of the film cannot be just Prithviraj, since Prithviraj Chauhan was the last Hindu emperor, the name of the film should give full respect to his name. Therefore the full name should be Hindu Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan or Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan.

The members also demanded that the film should be shown to the representatives of Kshatriya and Rajput society beforehand so that they can see whether there is any controversy or any tampering with history in the film.

The demonstration took place in sector 45, Chandigarh and the members also threatened that if the producer-director does not take actions and put an end to all the controversies related to the film, then the film will face the same fate as the Kshatriya Samaj did to Padmaavat and Jodhaa Akbar during the release of the films.

While Sanjay Leela Bhansali did change the title of Padmaavat after the protest, the makers of Prithviraj are yet to decide on the demands of these organisations. And if all goes well, then the film will release on Diwali 2021.
