In a recent statement on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Anand Mahindra, the 68-year-old Chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra, extended heartfelt prayers for the safety of workers trapped in the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarkashi. As the rescue operation reached its final stages, Mahindra expressed confidence in the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, hailing them as “heroes.”
“As the resumption of drilling marks a crucial phase in the rescue efforts, our collective, national prayers are with the 41 workers awaiting a safe exit from the tunnel,” Mahindra stated. He reiterated his trust in the NDRF, emphasizing his belief that they would bring the trapped workers to safety at the earliest possible moment.
The ongoing rescue operation, spanning over a week, has entered its conclusive phase, with the rescue team initiating the drilling of a pipe inside the Silkyara tunnel. This latest development has boosted hopes for the successful extraction of the workers, with Mahindra’s words serving as a beacon of optimism during these challenging times.
