Often called the ‘great equaliser’, the novel coronavirus has affected the rich and the poor, the famous and the average citizen, equally. The pandemic has wreaked havoc on the country and has infected several renowned Indian personalities from Bollywood, India Inc, TV industry and the sports fraternity too.
Here’s a look at the famous Indian personalities who tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
The Bachchan family
Bollywood megastar, Amitabh Bachchan tested Covid-19 along with son Abhishek Bachchan, daughter-in-law Aishwarya Bachchan and grand-daughter Aaradhya.
They are currently receiving treatment in Nanavati hospital, Mumbai. However the other members of the Bachchan family, namely, Jaya Bachchan, Agastya Nanda, Navya Naveli Nanda and Shweta Nanda have tested negative.
Anupam Kher’s family
Actor Anupam Kher confirmed the news that while he has tested negative for COVID-19, his mother, brother Raju Kher, Raju’s wife and daughter (Anupam’s niece) have tested mildly positive for novel coronavirus. He confirmed the news on Twitter.
Parth Samthaan
Kasautii Zindagii Kay actor Parth Samthaan has tested Covid-19 positive. While his other co-actors have tested negative, shooting has been stalled. Parth Samthaan is self-quarantined at his home. He wrote on Instagram: Hi everyone, I had mild symptoms and got myself tested. And yes I have been tested Positive for Covid 19…hence I would urge and request everyone who’s been with me in close proximity over the last few days please go and get yourself tested. The Bmc has regularly been in touch and with the doctors guidance I am in self quarantine and I am grateful to them for all their support. Please be safe and take care.
Shrenu Parikh
The Ishqbaaz actress announced earlier today (July 15) that she has also tested positive and undergoing medical treatment in a hospital. She shared a note which reads: Hey everyone have been away for a while but the bugger hasn’t spared me…was found Covid positive a few days ago, and I’m now recovering in the hospital! Keep me and my family in your prayers! And I’m very thankful to all the corona warriors who treat the patients compassionately during these scary times too…
Additi Gupta
Additi Gupta, who was supposed to join the cast of recently premiered ‘Anupamaa’, also tested Covid-19 positive. Best known for her role in shows such as Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, Aditi has self-quarantined herself at home.
Music Director Wajid Khan
Late music composer Wajid Khan, who died on June 1, 2020, after a cardiac arrest, was reportedly receiving treatment for COVID-19 after he was tested positive for it.
Kiran Kumar
The 74-year-old veteran actor Kiran Kumar tested positive for the novel coronavirus on May 14. Kumar, however, said he didn’t experience any symptoms. The actor learnt about it when he went to a hospital for a minor medical procedure 10 days ago.
Kanika Kapoor
Singer Kanika Kapoor became the centre of controversy when she tested positive for Covid-19 on March 20. Her social ‘non-distancing’ was highly debated and discussed on social media, with some condemning her for not taking social distancing norms seriously.
On March 21, Kanika was charged with criminal negligence by the UP Police. The singer subsequently tested positive for Covid-19 five times and was discharged from the hospital on April 6 after testing negative twice.
The 41-year-old, after fully recovering from Covid-19, offered to donate her plasma to those suffering from Covid-19.
Purab Kohli
Actor Purab Kohli, who starred in the popular ‘90s show ‘Hip Hip Hurray’ and lives in London with his wife Lucy Payton, daughter Inaya, and son Osian, took to Instagram on April 9 to announce that his family had contracted the novel coronavirus.
On April 11, Kohli took to Instagram to announce that his family had ‘fully recovered’ from the novel coronavirus and thanked his fans and well-wishers for the constant support.
Mohena Kumari
Mohena Kumari, of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ fame, was the second TV star to test positive for Covid-19 on June 2. “Yes, the news is true, seven from our family have been tested positive for Covid-19, but we are doing fine now,” Kumari said in an interview.
Shibasis Sarkar
Not just B-Town and the TV industry, but India Inc was also terribly hit by Covid-19. Reliance Entertainment Group CEO and the producer of Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Sooryavanshi’, Shibasis Sarkar, tested positive for Covid-19 on May 31 and was admitted to Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai.
Dingko Singh
Indian boxer Dingko Singh, who won the 1998 Asian Games gold medal, tested positive for the novel coronavirus on June 1. Singh is also battling cancer.
“He was negative when he left Delhi but has tested positive on his return to Manipur,” a source told PTI.
Rekha’s Mumbai bungalow sealed
Rekha’s Mumbai bungalow was sealed after a guard test COVID-19 positive. BMC has also sanitised the area and cordoned it off after one of two guards tested positive for COVID-19.
Earlier, Bollywood celebrities like Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor and Aamir Khan had their residences sealed for the same reason. In June, seven members of Aamir Khan’s staff, including two bodyguards and a cook, tested positive. #pkglifestylenews
