The recent hit in the film industry, Fukrey 3, was released a month ago, but following its success, there has been a string of disappointments and failures. This downward trend is expected to persist until the release of Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 during Diwali.

Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas, which had a promising budget and received considerable promotion, failed to draw a significant audience, with an underwhelming start of only Rs 1.25 crore (Rs 12.5 million). Despite the fact that Kangana’s previous film Dhaakad had an even weaker opening, this does little to alleviate the situation. There was a time before the pandemic when the actress consistently generated decent initial interest with her films, whether she was the sole lead or had a co-star.

The lack of early viewership for Tejas resulted in minimal word-of-mouth publicity over the weekend. A cricket match between India and England during the weekend led to decreased Sunday turnout. On the other hand, the film 12th Fail is projected to surpass the Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million) milestone after its first week, judging by the current trend.

While Vikrant Massey’s latest film, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is a relatively small production, it managed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark on Friday, accumulating approximately Rs 1.10 crore (Rs 11 million). Although Massey has previously appeared primarily in OTT releases, this theatrical outing represents his most successful box office performance to date, with an encouraging weekend growth of around Rs 6.70 crore (Rs 67 million).

Should the film sustain its momentum throughout the weekdays, it may manage to remain in theaters until the release of Tiger 3. Initially known as Happy Teacher’s Day, Sajini Shinde Ka Viral Video was originally intended for an OTT release and might have fared better if it had premiered directly on a digital platform. However, given the current circumstances for theatrical releases, the film was quickly released in theaters. Weekend collections amounted to a mere Rs 30 lakh (Rs 3 million), prompting hopes for an imminent arrival on an OTT platform.
