In a proactive response to the escalating dengue crisis in Ghaziabad, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak conducted an inspection of the Combined Hospital, including the facility’s dedicated dengue ward, on Monday. This visit comes at a critical time when Ghaziabad is grappling with a staggering surge in dengue cases, exceeding 1,000 reported cases. Over the last 24 hours alone, 18 new cases were recorded, pushing the total count to 1,060 cases.

Pathak, during his visit, issued directives to city officials to initiate widespread fogging operations as a measure to control the increasing dengue cases. The district health authorities reported that, on Monday, 59 teams specializing in malaria prevention inspected 2,168 households across 47 locations. Alarming dengue larvae were detected in 39 of these locations, underlining the need for urgent action.

With the persistent rise in the number of dengue cases, medical experts have offered advice to the public. Patients exhibiting dengue symptoms have been advised to avoid pain relievers and opt for paracetamol in the presence of symptoms such as high-grade fever, persistent body aches, and vomiting.

Medical professionals also highlighted that a significant portion of hospitalizations was driven by panic among patients. In the majority of cases, individuals seeking medical assistance displayed mild symptoms such as fever and body pain, leading to overall lethargy. Severe cases, accounting for only 5-10% of the total, witnessed patients suffering from dengue shock syndrome and multiple organ failure, according to a doctor at the hospital.

During his inspection, Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak took the opportunity to interact with patients visiting the Outpatient Department (OPD) and sought their feedback on the quality of health services. Subsequently, a meeting was held with health officials at the hospital, where Pathak emphasized the need for enhanced sanitation at the facility.

Vinod Chand Pandey, Chief Medical Officer at the district combined hospital in Ghaziabad, shared, “During the meeting, we requested for him to expand the emergency ward with more beds.” This demonstrates the collective effort to tackle the dengue outbreak and improve healthcare infrastructure in the region.
