On the occasion of his 58th birthday, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan treated his fans with the much-anticipated teaser of his upcoming film, ‘Dunki.’ This film, his third release of the year following the blockbusters ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan,’ marks a significant collaboration with renowned filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. Notably, ‘Dunki’ also stars the talented Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.
The teaser opens with a gripping scene of men and women clad in black, navigating a desert landscape while a sharpshooter takes aim at them. As a shot is fired, the narrative takes us back in time, revealing the origin of this intense drama. ‘Dunki’ revolves around a group of friends from Punjab, including Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and two others, who share the dream of working and living in London. Shah Rukh’s character, Hardy, makes a solemn vow to help his friends achieve this dream by any means necessary.

The title ‘Dunki’ has garnered considerable attention due to its unique pronunciation. Shah Rukh Khan shed light on the meaning of the title during an interview at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia in December 2022. He explained that in English, the film’s title would translate to “Donkey.” However, in certain regions of India, particularly among Punjabis, the pronunciation is more akin to “dunki.”
The actor shared, “How much to tell you about the story… It is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have had in our country, Mr. Raju Hirani. It is written by a very fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi. It is a story of people who want to come back home… when you finally get the calling.” Shah Rukh Khan also emphasized that ‘Dunki’ is a comedy film, a trademark of Rajkumar Hirani’s work, which beautifully combines humor with deep emotional elements, often rooted in the essence of the country.
