despite competition from Hindi film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, managing to stay ahead in most cities of Punjab state.
Smaller regional language film industries, such as Marathi, Bengali, and Punjabi, which lack the large budgets of
Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films, have suffered for the past two years, with the pandemic causing losses of nearly Rs. 600 crore.
Not only were multiple projects stymied by rising interest costs for producers, but content in these languages was still largely ignored by large video streaming platforms that cater to languages with a larger audience.
