At the current Junior National Aquatic Championships, Maharashtra’s Vedaant Madhavan re – wrote the national record in the 1500m freestyle event for group I boys.

Vedaant, son of actor R Madhavan, took the top spot with good pace and an effective stroke, clocking 16:01.73 seconds to break Advait Page’s 2017 log of 16:06.43 seconds.

Amogh Anand Venkatesh of Karnataka (16:21.98 seconds) and Shubhojeet Gupta of Bengal (16:34.06) who earned the silver and bronze medals, respectively, were defeated by Vedaant.

Harshika Ramachandra of Karnataka set a new meet record in the 400-meter freestyle for group II girls with a time of 4:29.25 seconds. Rujula S, a statemate, came in 10 seconds later with a time of 4:39.53 seconds to take second place.

Father Madhavan feels proud of his son’s another accomplishment; wrote congratulatory message over tweet.

R. Madhavan wrote, “With the Grace of god and all your blessing Vedaant @VedaantMadhavan breaks his 1st meet record of the 1500 m free style at the National Junior aquatic meet.”
