Vidhya Balan has imprinted her bold presence in Bollywood since 2003. “BHALO THEKO” was her first movie which she did for bengali culture. Paa proved to be a major turning point not only for Balan’s career but also for Bollywood actresses in general. In No One Killed Jessica (2011), a true crime tale of a woman searching for her sister’s killer, Balan proved that a film without a male lead could be a commercial success.
Recently, She went to an event organised by Film cooperation. When everyone talking about her superhits, nobody mentioned the name “MISSION MANGAL” and this thing turned off Vidhya Balan. On her asking of why they didn’t mention it to her hits, they replied,”vo to akshay kumar…..” Vidya said that ‘Mission Mangal’, which did great business, will be seen as an Akshay Kumar film, which is very unfortunate. Vidhya Balan being a calm and cool actress dropped her temperature. And asked whether she and the other four were not clearly visible to them or they were just a side actresses. Balan got a real hurt after having this image.
Undoubtedly, MISSION MANGAL got all the success in such a short time span. The way it has been directed and pictorised in front of Indians is still appreciable. But not counting females as a lead is not at all accepted.
Vidhya Balan never differentiated between the sexes and their dominance. She just being a true feminist support all the females. She even spoke about “Gangubai Kathiavadi” and make others realised that movies lead by females can be a success in Bollywood.
