The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for dense fog in North India.

According to the IMD, a dense fog advisory was issued for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh. The advisory urged caution while driving or using any form of transport, recommending the use of fog lights while driving. It also advised staying in touch with airlines, railways, and state transport for updated journey schedules.

The IMD highlighted the potential for difficult driving conditions with slower journey times and possible diversions in airports, highways, and railway routes. Passengers traveling to and from Delhi faced challenges due to delayed and diverted flights and trains, with over 80 flights reported delayed at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi this morning till 8.30 am, as per news agency ANI.

Some travelers shared their experiences, citing delays of up to two hours. Auto and cab drivers noted a slight improvement in fog conditions compared to the previous day.

As per an IMD report, visibility at 17:30 pm on Saturday varied across different locations, with Pantnagar at 200, Ludhiana at 200, Bhiwani at 500, Safdarjung at 500, and several places in Uttar Pradesh ranging from 200 to 500.
