“FIR Registered by Delhi Police Following Rashmika Mandanna’s Deepfake Video Controversy”

288

In a concerning turn of events, a new deepfake video featuring the beloved actress Rashmika Mandanna has stirred up a fresh wave of controversy on social media. Notably, this video, unlike its predecessor, does not contain explicit content. Instead, it showcases Rashmika’s face skillfully morphed onto another woman’s visage, and this deceptive creation is the result of a powerful AI technology known as deepfake.

Regrettably, this is not the first instance of a public figure falling victim to deepfake manipulation. Prior to this, we witnessed a series of morphed videos featuring the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput that had gone viral, underscoring the dark underbelly of the misuse of artificial intelligence to disseminate misinformation and tarnish an individual’s reputation.

Rashmika Mandanna had previously expressed her disquiet, describing the situation as “extremely scary” and voicing her concerns regarding the potential misuse of this technology. Her apprehensions have now prompted action from the Delhi Police, who have registered an FIR against unidentified individuals under sections 465 and 469 of the Indian Penal Code. These sections pertain to forgery and forgery with the intent to harm someone’s reputation, highlighting the seriousness of the matter.

Simultaneously, the Indian government has issued stern reminders to social media platforms, emphasizing the legal provisions governing deepfake content and the associated penalties. This serves as a crucial step in curbing the proliferation of such misleading digital manipulations.

On a brighter note, Rashmika Mandanna’s fans eagerly await her upcoming movie, “Animal,” in which she shares the screen with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, renowned for “Kabir Singh,” this highly anticipated film is scheduled for release on December 1, promising an exciting cinematic experience for audiences.
