In a somber turn of events, a 57-year-old Delhi Police sub-inspector, Ashok Kumar, lost his life in a bike accident in Raj Nagar Extension. The collision with a divider occurred as he was returning home from a wedding in Ghaziabad, with the impact shattering his helmet. Despite prompt police response and transportation to a nearby hospital, Kumar was declared dead on arrival.
The incident, which took place around 10.30pm on Friday, revealed signs of speeding based on the severity of the crash. Ramanand Kushwaha, additional DCP (traffic), highlighted the mangled state of Kumar’s helmet and the substantial injuries sustained by the sub-inspector. Autopsy reports are pending.
In a separate tragedy on the Hapur-Modinagar road, a 35-year-old accountant, Robin Rana, lost his life after an unidentified vehicle attempting to overtake him collided with his bike. Rana, who worked in a private company, was rushed to the hospital after a passerby reported the accident around 9.30pm on Friday. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Investigations revealed that Rana was not wearing a helmet, and the overtaking vehicle fled the scene without stopping. An FIR has been filed against unknown individuals under relevant sections of the IPC. Law enforcement is actively reviewing CCTV footage in hopes of tracing the vehicle involved in this unfortunate incident.
