Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Urges PM Modi for Rs 5,060 Crore Interim Relief After Cyclone Michaung

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking urgent financial assistance of Rs 5,060 crore for relief measures in the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung. The cyclonic storm, which struck on December 2-4, led to severe damage in districts including Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpattu.

Stalin’s letter emphasized the extreme heavy rainfall in the affected regions, particularly highlighting the impact on the Greater Chennai Corporation. He outlined the substantial challenges faced by the residents, impacting their livelihoods. The official release stated that the Chief Minister detailed these challenges and urgently requested Rs 5,060 crore as interim relief under specific categories.
